Kiplinger’s ratings took walkability, health care and local amenities into consideration. And while Columbus was highly recognized, it was the City of Grandview Heights that exemplified some of the best things about living in Metro Columbus.

For example, the Wallace Gardens community garden plots, located on the southwest corner of Grandview Avenue and Goodale Boulevard, have been in continuous use since World War II. Recently, Grandview Heights announced a $1.2 million plan to enhance the 4-acre site with walkways and hiking trails, a gazebo, and a children’s play area, while preserving the garden plots. City leaders suggest that Wallace Gardens could be the future site of farmer’s markets, weddings, and outdoor entertainment.

Grandview Heights is also noted for its walkable neighborhoods, which are surrounded by a variety of independent retail stores and restaurants. Big city amenities like the Columbus Museum of Art and the Nationwide Arena are only minutes away in Downtown Columbus.

Grandview Heights offers easy access to world-class healthcare, with the Ohio State University Hospital System just 3 miles away. The OSU Hospital System includes the Wexner Medical Center, which is nationally ranked for excellence by U.S. News & World Report. The James Cancer Hospital, also part of the OSU Hospital System, is ranked among the top hospitals for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report.

Access to medical care is outstanding throughout Metro Columbus. Other highly-regarded medical centers include Mt. Carmel Health, Ohio Health, and Nationwide Children’s Hospitals. The largest physician-owned independent system in Ohio is Central Ohio Primary Care.

While the Kiplinger article focused on Grandview Heights, there are many excellent communities in Central Ohio for you to choose from! Upper Arlington, Bexley, Clintonville, German Village, Victorian Village, Westerville and Worthington offer wonderful amenities. All of them put you in easy reach of some of the best big-city amenities to be found anywhere, such as the Columbus Metropolitan Library system, our Columbus Metro Parks, and the arguably the best zoo in the nation – The Columbus Zoo!
