]]> It’s Halloween, so naturally, the first phrase that comes to mind is “Trick or treat?” You might even be out and about with your youngsters right now, visiting with your neighbors and collecting some Halloween candy to snack on. But in Columbus, dessert and other delectable treats aren’t limited to holidays. There are plenty of places where you can find something sweet year-round throughout the area.

Part of my job as an Exclusive Buyer’s Broker is to help newcomers to the Columbus, OH metropolitan area get adjusted to their new home. It’s also a priority of mine to get them acquainted with their new neighborhood, and that DEFINITELY includes a list of places where they can get a celebratory treat. Here are a few places that you can enjoy:

In terms of ice cream, it’s fairly difficult to beat Columbus! Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream combines grass-fed Ohio milk with spices, fruits, and sometimes, vegetables. Named “The Best Ice Cream in America” over and over again, you don’t have to have been born and raised in Ohio to enjoy Jeni’s. It’s a local spot enjoyed by anyone who visits. Vienna Ice Café, Johnson’s, Graeter’s (you won’t find thicker ice cream anywhere else) and Mardi Gras are all ice creameries that offer their own take on a favorite dessert. You could do a tour of your new Columbus neighborhood based almost entirely on ice cream. Could you think of anything tastier?

If you prefer pastries, that’s not a problem. Pistacia Vera in the German Village provides a very French-esque pastry selection with some delicious coffee to boot. Clintonville’s Mozart Bakery offers a multitude of Austrian-style pastries bound to make your mouth water. Gluten free residents need not worry, either, Bexley’s Cherbourg Bakery offers ALL gluten free treats, and you can’t even tell the difference when you take a bite. Vegans in the area would enjoy Pattycake Bakery, 100% animal-friendly AND delicious.

Whether you prefer hearty pastries or scrumptious, smooth ice cream, you CAN find it made fresh and ready for consumption in the Columbus, OH area! You can enjoy these treats year-round WITHOUT the tricks.
