There’s an important distinction between our home search tools and those you might find on an aggregate website like Zillow or Trulia. These sites basically re-package MLS listing data, brand it under their own label, and include confusing advertising around it. For example, real estate agents can pay an advertising fee to Zillow to have their faces populated around listings. This doesn’t mean these agents are local experts, or that they have any connection to the properties you see.

What’s more, Zillow and Trulia also “scrape” real estate listing data from other sources, like Craigslist, and allow users to enter in their own data about homes that may, or may not be, for sale. Outdated and inaccurate information, and sometimes outright scams, are the result.

Unfortunately, it’s very hard for a home buyer to judge the quality of the listing data they see on Zillow and similar websites. In most cases, they don’t realize they’ve been looking at erroneous information until they contact a licensed real estate professional.

The listing data you see on our website is as accurate and up-to-date as possible, sourced from participating brokerages in the Columbus Regional Multiple Listing Service. There are specific rules and reporting timelines involved in MLS listings that help protect agents as well as the public.

Please also keep in mind that we can show you any home for sale on the market, even if it is not an MLS listing. That means if you find a home advertised as “For Sale by Owner” or by an area builder, we can still represent you, protect you, and help you save money!
