Delaware Ohio
The small college town of Delaware has been the county seat of Delaware County for nearly 200 years. Delaware County is among one of the fastest growing, most educated, and wealthiest counties in the country. Despite the growth of the city as many families and businesses find a home here, Delaware maintains a small-town atmosphere with historic character. It is the birthplace of the 19th president of The United States Rutherford B. Hayes and its daily newspaper, the Delaware Gazette, is the oldest family-owned newspaper in the country.
Delaware offers plenty of recreational activities for residents and visitors. Five miles north of town is the 7,000-acre Delaware State Park offering fishing, boating, and swimming. Neighboring the State Park is a 4,670-acre wildlife area and also nearby are Alum Creek State Park and Alum Creek Lake. Bike paths, golf courses, and athletic leagues can be found in Delaware along with many offerings in the arts. The Delaware County Cultural Arts Center offers classes in dance, painting, and crafts.
