Once again, we’re beginning a new month, and Columbus, Ohio has quite a few events that will help you end your summer in an enjoyable way. Whether your interest is art, charity, or physical activity, there will likely be something happening in the area that you won’t want to miss. As an Exclusive Buyer’s Broker for the area, I keep track of what’s going on to help clients who have recently relocated meet new people in their community.

Here’s a quick run-down of what’s happening this month:

A Race for the Health of it: Run for Spaghetti 5K
August 11th, 2012
8:00am
Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, OH
Did you know that National Health Center Week is in August? Participating in this 5K race, which is organized by the Lower Lights Christian Health Center, will allow you to help raise money for uninsured patients who use public health centers for their medical needs. Any and all funds raised will offset the cost of uninsured medical care that these community centers provide. The event includes a 5K race, a 1 mile walk, a kids race and family fun. Registration is $25. Show your support for a great cause and help your health at this event!

Movies on the Mile
August 17th, 2012
7:00pm
233 Civic Center Drive, Columbus, OH
Movie nights are never boring, but sometimes it’s more fun to forego the latest blockbuster and settle down with a classic. On August 17th, enjoy a screening of Charlotte’s Web with the entire family. Arrive early to get concessions and participate in a few activities that relate to the film’s theme. At dusk, sit back and enjoy the show. Admission is free!

Grove City’s Balloons and Toons
Friday, August 24th-Saturday, August 25th
5:00pm-9:30pm
Beulah Park, 3811 Southwest Blvd, Grove City, OH
The Central Ohio Balloon club will wow you with some amazing hot air balloons at this annual festival. Take this opportunity to go on your first tethered balloon ride or flight. Free admission makes this event even more affordable for the entire family. Reservations are required for your balloon adventure, so don’t waste any time booking your flight.

Art for the Environment
August 25th, 2012
6:00pm-9:00pm
The Lab, 855 Grandview Ave, Columbus, OH
This silent art auction will benefit the Ohio Environmental Council. Join a multitude of local artists and show your support for clean air and water and sustainable land use. Each piece of work will express a connection to the environment. Artists Ann Hamilton and Michael Mercil will be featured. Add to your art collection and come together with the community to benefit the environmental well-being of our area.

Whether you want to run a race, buy a new painting or enjoy a classic film, there is something happening in Columbus this month that will undoubtedly pique your interest. I think that going to community events like these can only help those who have recently relocated to the area get acclimated faster.
